Control of the club face
To break 85 you will need to be hitting shots with more consistency (distance and dispersion).
Understanding how to control wrist angles (through three dimensions) is important.
At this level, you must be compressing your iron shots with a slightly descending angle of attack.
Control 100 metres and in
You need a swing and the club for each of the distances from 100 metres in.
Hitting a controlled wedge shot 50, 75 or 90 metres as required will ensure you’re able to make pars or the occasional birdie.
Smart targets
Each approach shot is now an opportunity. The temptation to attack with every club is huge.
But look at each approach shot with both an aggressive target and a safe target. What is the risk associated with each target? What are the percentages with each?
Now make a “scorecard-winning” decision and commit to it.
