Adding speed

Getting tee shots further down the fairway without decreasing the number of fairways found or increasing penalty shots will result in easier approach shots.

The technique changes to increase speed will make it easier to square the club face.

It will also result in more distance with every shot.

More greens in regulation

Swing path and club face angle control become much more important on approach shots. That will lead to tighter dispersion and an increase in greens in regulation.

This needs to be combined with an elite approach to target selection on approach shots to avoid short-siding yourself.

Scrambling is important

Mistakes will always happen. But to break 80, we need to recover from mistakes. That requires the ability to get up and down occasionally from around the green, including from bunkers.

Practise creating multiple trajectories and spins with different wedges, adapting shot type to the green and lie. Aim to convert a high percentage of your missed greens into pars.
